Vintage brass lotas

A lovely collection of vintage brass lotas…. the name for a vessel that is used to hold water.

In India, for generations, without indoor plumbing or running water…. water has been collected and stored in large urns in a home. 

These small lotas are used to scoop the water from the large urn to drink or pour. 

With their beautiful shapes, and lovely brass patina, they make wonderful vases in our homes today.
